Ente plum on Lot and Garonne Agen plum treeVirgin Prune Kernel Oil is made from Ente plums, a variety of Prunus Domestica, which are cultivated in south west France to produce Pruneaux d’Agen (Agen prunes).

Ente plums are harvested upon reaching maturity between mid-August and mid-September:

  • Their skins have a characteristic colour of purple tinged with blue.
  • Their honey coloured flesh is deliciously sweet and juicy and they possess excellent antioxidant properties.

Rich in vitamin E

Pictogram showing the richness in vitamin E of the Perles de Gascogne natural vegetable oilsVirgin Plum Oil is made up of 700 ppm tocopherols, that is to say 15 mg of vitamin E per 100 g oil, which is 25% of the recommended daily amount for an adult with an average daily calorie intake of 2000 kcal (these values may vary according to age, sex and physical activity). Its richness in vitamin E allows it to carry the regulatory nutrient function claim for cell membrane protection.

Manufacturing process:

Water reduction

Excess water is reduced using a natural process in order to prevent oxidisation and contamination of the yeasts, which leads to the nuts and fruit going mouldy.

Mechanical extraction

The seeds are crushed and slowly pressed using an endless screw in order to extract the oil in the first cold pressing process, without the use of heat.


The mechanically extracted oil is filtered several times once it comes out of the press to obtain a product that is as clear and bright as possible.

NB: A natural sterilising filtration process (porosity diameter: 0.2 microns) can be carried out on request to remove micro-organism residue.


The prune stone oil is preserved in a cold room out of sunlight. This storage method allows the intrinsic qualities of the oil to be preserved naturally.
